Take Care Of Skin In Summer With These Useful Tips

13 Jun 2023

Taking care of your skin during the summer is important to protect it from the sun's harmful rays and keep it healthy.

That’s why I don’t like summer at all! When Sun raises its mercury high, the intense heat and humidity activate the already active oil glands of the skin even more. Due to this many problems like sebum, rashes, sunburn, tan, and premature aging signs start raising their heads simultaneously around the T-zone.

To avoid this, you should follow a good skincare routine to protect your skin during summer. Let us talk about the summer skincare routine step by step, and how to take care of your skin in summer.

Here are some useful Skin Care tips to help you take care of your skin in the summer:

  1. Apply sunscreen: Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher on all exposed areas of your skin, including your face, neck, arms, and legs. Reapply every two hours, or more frequently if you're swimming or sweating.

  2. Seek shade: Limit your exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak hours between 10 am and 4 pm When outdoors, stay in the shade as much as possible, especially if the sun is intense.

  3. Wear protective clothing: Cover up with lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that covers your arms and legs. Opt for wide-brimmed hats to protect your face, neck, and ears. Don't forget to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV rays.

  4. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from within. Avoid excessive consumption of sugary and alcoholic beverages, as they can dehydrate your skin.

  5. Cleanse gently: Use a gentle cleanser to wash your face twice a day, morning and evening. Avoid harsh soaps or cleansers that can strip away your skin's natural oils.

  6. Exfoliate regularly: Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells and promotes cell turnover, giving your skin a fresh and glowing appearance. Use a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week to avoid over-exfoliating.

  7. Moisturise appropriately: Even in the summer, moisturizing is essential to keep your skin hydrated. Choose a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer that suits your skin type. Apply it after cleansing and before applying sunscreen.

  8. Avoid hot showers: Hot showers can strip your skin of its natural oils and cause dryness. Opt for lukewarm water instead and limit your shower time to avoid excessive drying.

  9. Be mindful of chlorine and saltwater: After swimming in chlorinated or saltwater pools, rinse off with fresh water to remove any residual chemicals. Apply a moisturizer afterward to replenish lost moisture.

  10. Maintain a healthy diet: Eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants can help nourish your skin from within. Foods like watermelon, cucumber, berries, and leafy greens are especially beneficial during the summer.

Remember, everyone's skin is unique, so it's essential to listen to your skin's needs and adjust your skincare routine accordingly. If you have specific skin concerns, consult a dermatologist for personalized advice and recommendations.
